The Last Man - Book I - Epilogue
Listen to the epilogue of The Last Man, Book I.
About the book
Mary Shelley published The Last Man in 1826, seven years after Frankenstein. It follows the collapse of civilisation under a plague that spreads across the world, narrated by the man who outlives it. Reviewers hated it, and it went out of print for more than a century before finding the readership it should have had at the start.
Our retelling brings that story to a contemporary audience in print, in ebook and as an audiobook. Retelling a classic is not reprinting one: the work is in finding what a modern reader needs from a book written two centuries ago, and then earning it rather than assuming the original’s reputation will carry it.
